In a survey conducted by ChangeWave it was declared that Amazon kindle fire which is an upcoming Android Tablet manufactured by Amazon has surpassed Apple’s iPad in terms of pre-order numbers.
Apple may have said that Amazon Kindle Fire is no threat to their iPad but this survey tells a different story altogether.
Amazon Kindle Fire runs Android v2.3 Gingerbread with capability to upgrade to Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which makes it a pretty competitive Tablet. That’s not all; Amazon is offering Kindle Fire at $200 per piece along with several other benefits like Amazon Prime, Amazon Video Rentals and Amazon Music Rentals which makes it one of cheapest yet good quality Android Tablet PCavailable in market.
In past few years, we have seen the demand of Tablets rise extensively thus Amazon Kindle Fire and other cheap Android Tablets have big potential to succeed. This certainly doesn’t sound good news for Apple because as people would begin trying out Android Tablets, the over-hyped, over-priced iOS running iPad would feel lack of attention from the consumers.
Android is a pretty flexible platform, it can be customized and also has a dedicated Application Store – Android Market which has pretty much similar apps that Apple offers. Regular Android Tabs like Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom andToshiba Thrive have already done much damage to Apple’s market share in the Tablet sector and once the $200 priced Amazon Kindle Fire and other cheap Android Tablets running Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich are launched, Apple’s market share would drop further, and this time it would be a major slide.
But there’s nothing to worry Apple fans. Apple’s market share might drop a little but it would still hold a big chunk. Release of budget Android Tablets might force Apple to release better upgrades for iPad 2, a newer version of the iPad or even a cheaper version of iPad Tablet PC. There are several exciting possibilities.
I don’t think Apple is going to swallow a steady decrease in its market share; they are going to roll out changes to gain their position back which means one thing – better and cheaper iProducts for the consumer.
Amazon hasn’t rolled out Amazon Kindle Fire yet but it is up for pre-orders. If we see the survey that was conducted with 2600 people, about 5% people have already pre-ordered or are very likely to do so and about 12% are somewhat likely to pre-order Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet.
