Technology can play a big role in education and it seems every political leader in India is getting a hang of this idea.

Akhilesh Yadav, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has formed a committee that will look after the purchase of about 47 lakh cheap tablets and laptops which would further be distributed to Class X and Class XII students of the state.

HCL that recently launched MyEduTab has shown interest in serving this order but the committee wants to explore the rest of the market in order get best quality products for the cheapest price possible.

“The chief minister has made it amply clear that we need to go for competitive bidding and to get the best and cheapest and we are working in that direction,” said Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma a member of the committee.

If everything goes by the schedule, students in UP might get their hands on free laptops and tablets sometime around September.
